Arrangements for consulting families

Parents are invited to the twice-yearly parent consultation meetings. we also offer a ‘SEND Drop in’ during parents evening for parents/carers to share or discuss their concerns with the Inclusion Manager.

Pupil Passports are created in partnership with parents. Parents are invited to add to the Pupil Passports and sign to say they are in agreement. This is done by invitation into school as well as informal meetings and conversations between the teacher, TA and parents. If appropriate the Inclusion Manager will also be involved.

When outside agencies are becoming involved, the class teacher will discuss with parents first and gain consent to make a referral. The Inclusion Manager will be involved in these discussions when appropriate. Outside agencies will consult with parents as well as school, via phone call or face to face meetings.

Our pastoral team are always available for informal discussions on the gate before and after school.  We also host termly SEND coffee morning for families to come together to share their ideas and worries, communicate with school and each other and explore school resources and equipment for supporting children with SEND.

Early Help meetings and Pastoral Early Intervention meetings are held with parents (when appropriate), usually once a half term. In these meetings parents and staff give updates and next steps are set out.

Parent’s voices are collected as part of parent consultations, surveys and when applying to access different services.   Families also have the opportunity to share their views at termly

coffee mornings.

There is an open-door policy where parents can speak to staff before and after school.

Families of children with an EHCP are invited to participate in the annual reviews.
